Overview
Capital One is seeking a Java Developer to join the Consumer/Customer Entity team within EP Tech. This team is supporting the next phase of a strategic initiative focused on the consumer and customer verification space, helping build and enhance a business rules application engine. The ideal candidate will be a strong backend developer with deep Java expertise, experience working in cloud environments, and the ability to design and implement scalable business processes using modern development frameworks and tools.
This is a hands-on development role with a primary focus on backend engineering, while also supporting occasional frontend and cross-functional development efforts as needed.
What You'll Be Doing
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services and business applications using Java and Spring Boot.
- Implement and enhance business rules and business processes within a large-scale enterprise application environment.
- Build scalable cloud-native solutions utilizing AWS services, including Lambda and Fargate.
- Partner with product owners, architects, and engineering teams to develop solutions supporting customer verification capabilities.
- Contribute to the next phase of Project Phoenix/Project Linux by developing new functionality and accelerating delivery timelines.
- Support application integration, performance optimization, testing, and deployment efforts.
- Leverage internal cloud platforms, developer productivity tools, and AI-assisted development tools where applicable.
- Participate in technical design discussions and provide leadership on backend engineering best practices.
- Contribute to frontend development tasks when necessary, though the role remains predominantly backend focused.

Required Qualifications
- Strong experience developing backend applications using Java.
- Hands-on experience with the Spring Framework, including Spring Boot.
- Experience building and deploying applications within AWS environments.
- Familiarity with AWS services such as Lambda and Fargate.
- Strong understanding of modern software development best practices and cloud-native application development.
- Ability to work in a hybrid onsite environment.
- Available to begin work quickly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working at Capital One.
- Experience with business rules engines or business rules management platforms.
- Full-stack development experience.
- Experience working with cloud developer platforms, internal development tooling, or AI-powered engineering productivity tools.
