Also, candidate must have experience with digital products and have worked with external facing public sites

Total 5 positions open, this is an urgent requirement


  1. We’re looking for Sr. team members who have experience of being a tech lead (leading initiatives/projects) in relatively mid/large organizations so they understand the cross functional collaboration & dependencies that exist.
  2. We will need candidates with very strong experience with either front end tech stack (Javascript, React.js, Node.js, DevOps etc) or backend tech stack (Java, play/Akka, Springboot, DevOps etc) and decent knowledge/understanding /experience of the non-primary tech stack. For example: If a candidate is very well versed with front end tech, then they should have a decent knowledge/understanding /experience of backend tech also so as to be able to triage and work on backend tech if needed.
  3. So far, all the candidates that we’ve talked with lack the above mentioned and the team does not feel strongly about any of them to move forward to the next round of discussion. (The tech feedback has been ok but not very strong. Also we’re completely lacking from the lead front.). I know that brings us back to searching more candidates, but we’re trying to make sure to be very transparent with you so you can help us find the right candidates.


Sr. Software Engineer – Digital Products

Location: LOCAL – must be flexible to work onsite once they are back in the office.

The Digital Products team is responsible for Marriott’s digital platforms and various products. They power all of the Marriott .coms and mobile application.  


Background we are looking for – background is just as important as the technical skills:

  • Need to have digital product experience – has experience building websites and digital products / applications; and connecting content management systems.

·  Someone who has gone through an enterprise level development, integration, and build out.

·  Experience managing and collaborating with various stakeholders and teams.

o Marriott does a lot of work with external service providers. This person must be able to lead efforts and work with their external vendors.

o This person will be in front business partners and various teams across Marriott.

o They must be polished and able to speak to the business.

·  Need to be able to explain and articulate how they delivered on projects in the past.

·  Want people who understand the architecture behind the product and .com development.

·  Integration done with team and business

·  Needs experience and the ability to drive the roadmap.

·  Consultative, industry talent.


Technical qualifications:

·       Must have digital transformation experience.

·       Full stack development experience working on various platforms and products.  

·  Front-end: Node.JS, React.JS JavaScript and/or React

·  Back-end: Java, microservices. Spring Boot, Play/ Akka

·  GraphQL – PLUS

·       Content management experience: Adobe Management experience or AEM

·       Cloud based certs or any certifications are a HUGE PLUS

·  Shows candidate has invested in themselves.  

·       Need to have an understanding of DevOps.

·       Must have experience leading through architecture and being hands on, coding with the team.



Leads workgroups and/or functions as a technical expert. Resolves and makes decisions on more complex, non-routine service requests with limited to moderate risk. Performs research, analysis, design, creation and implementation of applications to meet current and future user requirements. Defines and creates the next generation of solutions to drive Marriott value. Monitors multiple projects by Service Provider to successful completion, maintaining scope within the time and budget constraints. Creates solutions that serve our business leveraging current and leading edge technologies in an innovative and impactful manner.

Education and Experience Required:
8+ years’ experience in software development with expert level expertise in multiple programming languages and methodologies• 5+ years hands-on experience with application development tools• Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience/certificationPreferred:• Graduate degree• Technology certifications• Experience in waterfall and/or agile software methodologies• Demonstrated ability to anticipate future software engineering opportunities• Technology leadership experience in a sourced environment

Technical Leadership• Trains and/or mentors other team members, and peers as appropriate • Provides financial input on department or project budgets, capital expenditures or other cost/resource estimates as requested• Identifies opportunities to enhance the service delivery processes. Delivering Technology • Performs more complex quantitative and qualitative analyses for service delivery processes and projects.• Facilitates achievement of expected deliverables and obligations of Services Providers• Validates completeness of requirements prior to Service Provider solutioning• Ensures all projects follow the defined development and business case processes• Ensures proper coordination with appropriate IT and vendor relations teams• Provides consultation for routine and complex systems development• Ensures early warning to the business stakeholder executives regarding degraded or missed service levels• Coordinates with Operations and Infrastructure teams for deployment and production support activities

• Self-Service Kiosks and Digital Signage
