Senior Data Engineer – Remote

JD:

Key Responsibilities
Partner closely with client’s internal data architect and analytics stakeholders to support ongoing Snowflake development and operational needs
Build, maintain, and optimize data pipelines in Snowflake using dbt, SQL, and ingestion tools such as Fivetran
Help complete the migration of legacy ETL workloads from Alteryx into a scalable dbt/Snowflake-based framework
Support raw data ingestion, cleansing, transformation, and delivery of trusted BI-ready datasets
Work with data from Shopify, custom PostgreSQL/AWS systems, and additional business platforms including Zendesk, email marketing, POS, and related operational tools
Ensure data models meet existing service levels for quality, timeliness, and reliability
Assist in extending client's current analytics models across domains such as sales, orders, products, stylists, commissions, merchandising, and profitability
Support expansion of the data foundation by onboarding new source systems and helping standardize how they integrate into the Snowflake environment
Troubleshoot performance, data quality, and pipeline issues in partnership with internal stakeholders
Document pipelines, transformations, and model logic to improve maintainability and reduce key-person dependency
Required Qualifications
6+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or modern cloud data platforms
Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake in production environments
Strong experience with dbt and SQL-based ELT/ETL development
Experience supporting analytics teams by delivering curated, trusted data models for reporting and insights
Experience with Fivetran or similar ingestion/orchestration tools
Experience working with Shopify data models and commerce-related datasets
Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL
Ability to work within an existing environment and contribute quickly with minimal ramp time
Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with technical and business stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with retail, direct selling, e-commerce, or customer/transaction-heavy business models
Familiarity with Zendesk, Google Analytics, Square POS, Sailthru, or similar business systems
Experience migrating workloads off legacy ETL tools such as Alteryx
Knowledge of data modeling best practices for semantic consistency, downstream BI, and future AI use cases
Familiarity with AI-ready data foundations, Cortex, semantic models, or modern self-service analytics architectures
