Job Description – Retail Business / Technology Consultant

Location: Remote

We are looking for an experienced Retail Business / Technology Consultant with 10–15 years of experience and strong retail domain expertise. The role requires the ability to work closely with business stakeholders, architects, and engineering teams to translate retail business processes and requirements into clearly defined business rules, data requirements, configurations, KPIs, and actionable user stories.

Key Responsibilities

Work directly with business users to capture, define, and document:

• Business rules
• Mapping documents and configurations
• Validation rules
• Exception-handling logic
• Workflow configurations
• Process documentation and user guides

• Understand retail business processes and translate them into configurable parameters, business rules, and data models.
• Define and document KPIs and business metrics to measure retail performance and business outcomes.
• Validate business rules, data requirements, and outputs to ensure data quality, consistency, and business accuracy.
• Conduct stakeholder workshops, discovery sessions, and requirements-gathering sessions with business users.
• Translate business requirements into well-defined user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional requirements.
• Ensure clear transition of business understanding and requirements to engineering teams and solution architects.

Retail Domain Expertise

Strong understanding of key retail business processes, including:

• Product hierarchy
• Assortment planning
• Inventory optimization
• Demand forecasting
• Point of Sale (POS) systems
• Sales processes and analytics
• Customer segmentation
• Omnichannel Order Management

Retail Data Understanding

Experience working with and understanding retail data sources, including:

• POS transaction data
