Position: SAP Platform Product Manager – SAP RISE & SAP BDC Transformation

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced SAP Platform Product Manager to lead our organization's transformation to SAP RISE and SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC). This role sits at the intersection of business strategy, enterprise architecture, and engineering execution – owning the vision and direction for our next-generation SAP platform, including the AI and data capabilities BDC unlocks.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who can move fluidly between boardroom conversations with business stakeholders and deep technical discussions with architects and engineers, translating complex platform, data, and AI capabilities into clear, actionable business language.
Key Responsibilities:
Platform Transformation Leadership
- Own the strategy and direction for the SAP RISE and SAP BDC transformation program.
- Partner closely with Business stakeholders, Enterprise Architects, and Engineering teams to define requirements, priorities, and success metrics.
- Lead impact assessments across systems, data, integrations, and business processes affected by the RISE and BDC migrations.
- Translate complex technical dependencies, risks, and trade-offs into business-friendly narratives for executive and stakeholder audiences.
- Drive alignment across cross-functional teams (Finance, HR, IT Security, Data & Analytics) on migration scope, sequencing, and cutover planning.
- Serve as the primary liaison with SAP and any implementation/systems integration partners.
- Establish governance, reporting, and KPIs to track migration progress, risks, and the realization of business value.
- Support change management and enablement efforts to prepare the business for platform changes.
SAP BDC & AI Capability Exploration
- Explore and evaluate how SAP BDC's Joule Agents can create data products, prepare datasets, generate dashboards, and build planning/analytics models to identify high-value business use cases.
- Partner with Business and Data teams to assess opportunities where Joule's AI functionality can answer natural-language queries against semantically enriched business data.
- Evaluate and drive adoption of the BDC Data Product Studio as the central hub for defining, governing, and publishing data products consumed by Joule agents, SAC planning models, and third-party BI tools.
- Assess hyperscaler integration opportunities (Databricks, Google BigQuery, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric) to determine where zero-copy data federation can reduce duplication and improve cross-platform analytics.
- Work with Architecture and Engineering to understand governance implications as SAP unifies BTP, BDC, and Business AI, including how the SAP AI Agent Hub is used to discover, govern, and control agents, LLMs, and MCP servers.
- Build the business case and roadmap for adopting new Joule agents and skills across functions.
- Track emerging BDC and AI capabilities as SAP's ecosystem evolves, translating technical releases into business impact assessments and adoption recommendations.
- Support cost governance conversations with Finance/IT around AI/BDC consumption models (e.g., AI Units, BTP Capacity Units, BDC Credits) to ensure investments are forecasted and negotiated appropriately.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in SAP platform/product management, IT program management, or SAP solution architecture roles.
- Hands-on experience with SAP RISE migrations (S/4HANA Cloud, infrastructure/hosting transitions) and/or SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC) implementations.
- Demonstrated experience performing technical impact assessments and translating findings into clear business recommendations.
- Strong understanding of SAP architecture, data models, and integration patterns (APIs, middleware, data pipelines).
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally with Business, Architecture, and Engineering teams as a trusted bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to senior leadership.
- Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills, with the ability to align diverse groups around a shared plan.
Preferred Qualifications
- SAP certifications (e.g., SAP S/4HANA, SAP BTP, SAP Data & Analytics).
- Experience with large-scale ERP migrations or cloud transformation programs.
- Familiarity with SAP Joule and Joule Studio, including how AI agents are built, governed, and deployed across business domains.
- Understanding of SAP's Business AI Platform architecture – how BTP, BDC, and Business AI are converging into a unified data and AI foundation.
- Experience evaluating or piloting AI-driven business capabilities (natural-language analytics, AI agents, automated data products) and translating them into prioritized business opportunities.
- Awareness of BDC's hyperscaler integrations (Databricks, BigQuery, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric) and their implications for enterprise data strategy.
- Background in change management frameworks and enterprise communication planning.
Success Metrics (First 6–12 Months)
- Delivery of a validated impact assessment and migration roadmap for SAP RISE and BDC.
- Identification of prioritized, business-cased use cases for Joule AI and BDC data products.
- Established governance and reporting cadence with Business, Architecture, and Engineering stakeholders.
- Measurable progress against migration milestones with minimal business disruption.
- Strong stakeholder satisfaction scores from Business and Engineering partners.
Education: At least a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Software/Electronics Engineering, Information Systems, or closely related field is required.
