Required Qualifications
Education: BS degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering or relevant discipline.
Experience: 5 – 10 years experience, with root cause and problem-solving in a manufacturing environment
Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Design Quality Engineer to support product quality, root cause investigation, and corrective action implementation for fuel cell components and systems.
This role is focused on closing the loop between manufacturing, quality, and design engineering by leading Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA/CAR) and driving design improvements based on production and field performance.
The ideal candidate has a strong technical foundation and enjoys working across functions—combining data analysis, problem-solving, and hands-on investigation to improve product reliability and manufacturability in a 24/7 production environment.
Key Responsibilities
CAPA / Root Cause Leadership
Lead root cause investigations for product nonconformances, production issues, and field failures
Utilize structured methods (5 Whys, Fishbone, DOE, 8D, Six Sigma tools) to identify root causes
Drive CAPA/CAR to closure
Design Quality & Continuous Improvement
Translate production and quality issues into design improvements (ECR/ECOs)
Evaluate tolerance stack-ups, materials, and failure modes (FMEA/DFM)
Drive systemic improvements to reduce repeat failures
Manufacturing & MRB Support
Support MRB/disposition decisions
Clarify specifications and support deviation decisions
Supplier Quality Interface
Support supplier nonconformances and corrective actions
Partner with supply chain on technical issues
Data Analysis & Collaboration
Support analysis of scrap, yield, and field performance data
Collaborate across Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Procurement
