Summary:
The main function of a software engineer is to apply the principles of computer science and mathematical analysis to the design, development, testing, and evaluation of the software and systems that make computers work. A typical software engineer researches, designs, develops and tests operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for medical, industrial, military, communications, aerospace, business, scientific and general computing applications.
Job Responsibilities:
• Modify existing databases and database management systems.
• Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database to management system or direct others in coding descriptions.
• Work as part of a project team to coordinate database development and determine project scope and limitations.
• Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project.

• Basic ability to work independently and manage one’s time.
• Basic knowledge of the full software development lifecycle: from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and delivery.

• Basic knowledge of computer hardware and software.
• Knowledge of computer development software as it relates to systems, such as Microsoft DevOps, REST API structures, SQL, VisualBasic, etc.
Education/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering or relevant field required.
• 2-4 years experience required.
Additional Role Details: job activities: creating requirements, managing internal development, and coordinating and performing testing of APIs for integration with external Client vendors and internal development teams for 5G eSIM management. Will work with DevOps, onboard software team, backend systems team, and dealer system portal

Typical task breakdown:
– Scheduling test sessions with multiple external vendors and internal engineers
– Understanding APIs available from vendors
– Working with the Telecom, Systems, and other teams to define which APIs need to be implemented
– Creating requirements and user stories in DevOps; defining ideal processes in Client to efficiently leverage the new eSIM technology capabilities and enable new functions for Client customers
– Getting answers to technical questions and
– Tracking progress in DevOps; participating in status meetings
– Conducting test sessions with engineers at each vendor and other Client teams, including engineers in India
Interaction with team:
– Daily interaction with eSIM technical experts on Telecom team (one in Chicago and one in Peoria)
– Daily interaction with engineers at external vendors
– Occasional interaction with other teams within Client
Team Structure
– 10 people currently, will work internal and external interaction
– Most of team in IL , some interaction with India team

Education & Experience Required:
– Years of experience: 2-4
– Degree requirement: technical BS degree
– Open to 2 year degree with 6 years experience
– Open to Master’s right out of college
