Role Overview
- We are seeking a highly experienced, hands-on Technical Program Lead to drive a large-scale enterprise CI/CD modernization initiative across multiple application teams and technology stacks.
- The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in DevSecOps, CI/CD automation, GitHub Actions, cloud platforms, and software engineering with strong project execution, stakeholder management, and delivery leadership capabilities.
- This is not a traditional project management role. The individual is expected to be technically proficient, contribute to architecture and solution design, guide engineering teams through implementation, troubleshoot complex challenges, and take end-to-end accountability for delivery.
Â
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Leadership & Architecture
- Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of standardized CI/CD capabilities across enterprise repositories.
- Establish reusable automation frameworks and workflows leveraging GitHub Actions.
- Drive branching strategies, tag-based releases, immutable tagging, automated quality gates, and deployment automation.
- Guide implementation across heterogeneous technology stacks, ensuring scalability, reusability, and security.
- Remain hands-on in developing workflows, reviewing code, troubleshooting pipeline issues, and resolving technical blockers.
Â
2. Lead Seven CI/CD Modernization Capabilities
Provide technical direction and delivery oversight across:
- CI/CD Foundation: Branching strategy, tag-based release automation, reusable workflows, and code quality checks.
- PR-Based Regression Testing: Automated functional, performance, and regression testing integrated into pull requests.
- Agentic PR Workflows: AI-assisted code reviews, risk scoring, and policy-governed auto-merge.
- Merge & Release Management: Controlled merges, immutable tags, and release traceability.
- Platform & Journey Testing: End-to-end regression, security testing, and performance validation.
- Soft Launch: Shadow traffic, automated comparison, and progressive rollout validation.
- Deployment Automation: Automated deployments, canary releases, blue/green deployment, and rollback capabilities.
Â
3. Program Execution & Delivery Management
- Own end-to-end technical delivery, including planning, estimation, milestones, dependencies, risks, and execution.
- Coordinate implementation across multiple repositories, application teams, and engineering stakeholders.
- Establish rollout plans, implementation standards, and adoption metrics.
- Proactively identify technical dependencies, bottlenecks, and delivery risks.
- Track progress, communicate status, and ensure timely resolution of blockers.
- Balance engineering quality with delivery timelines and business priorities.
Â
4. Stakeholder & Team Leadership
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for engineering leadership, architects, DevOps teams, and application owners.
- Lead technical discussions, design reviews, and implementation workshops.
- Mentor engineers and drive consistent engineering practices.
- Translate complex technical challenges into clear decisions, action plans, and executive-level updates.
- Drive adoption of standardized CI/CD practices across teams.
Â
Required Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with GitHub Actions, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and DevSecOps automation.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or similar languages.
- Experience with AWS, containerization, Kubernetes, and infrastructure automation.
- Strong understanding of branching strategies, release engineering, deployment automation, and rollback mechanisms.
- Experience integrating automated functional, API, regression, performance, and security testing into CI/CD workflows.
- Familiarity with SonarQube, SAST/DAST, and enterprise security controls.
- Ability to design reusable, scalable automation frameworks across multiple technology stacks.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to contribute directly to technical implementation.
Â
Preferred Skills
- Experience with ephemeral/dynamic test environments and automated test data provisioning.
- Exposure to GenAI/agentic software engineering, AI-assisted code reviews, and intelligent test automation.
- Experience with canary deployments, blue/green deployments, shadow traffic, and progressive delivery.
- Experience leading enterprise-scale DevSecOps transformations involving multiple application teams and repositories.
- Familiarity with regulated enterprise environments and associated governance requirements.
Â
Leadership & Delivery Skills
- Proven experience leading complex engineering programs with multiple technical workstreams.
- Strong planning, estimation, risk management, and dependency management skills.
- Ability to independently drive technical decisions and delivery execution.
- Excellent stakeholder communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with evolving requirements.
Â
What Success Looks Like
- Standardized, reusable CI/CD capabilities established and adopted across targeted repositories.
- Improved automation coverage, code quality, testing efficiency, and deployment reliability.
- Successful implementation of agentic engineering capabilities and dynamic environment pilots.
- Predictable delivery against agreed milestones, with transparent risk and dependency management.
- Reduced manual intervention and improved developer experience throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
- Ideal Candidate: A seasoned DevSecOps / Platform Engineering Lead who has successfully delivered enterprise-scale CI/CD transformations, remains technically hands-on, and possesses the execution discipline of an experienced Technical Program Manager.
