Role Summary
The Systems / Network Administrator is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, security, and reliability of the organization’s IT infrastructure. This includes managing servers, networks, user access, and system performance.
The role combines both systems administration and network management, along with advanced technical support and continuous improvement of IT services.
Core Role Responsibilities
1. Manage IT Systems
- Maintain Windows servers and core services (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP)
- Handle system updates, patching, and performance monitoring
- Manage virtualization platforms (Hyper-V, VMware)
- Oversee endpoint setup and maintenance
2. Manage Network Infrastructure
- Configure and support LAN, WAN, VPN, and Wi-Fi networks
- Maintain network devices such as firewalls, routers, and switches
- Monitor and troubleshoot network performance and connectivity issues
3. Ensure Security & Access Control
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and authentication
- Implement security measures such as MFA
- Monitor and respond to security risks and incidents
4. Maintain Backup & Recovery
- Ensure regular and reliable data backups
- Perform data restoration when required
- Support disaster recovery and business continuity plans
5. Provide Advanced Technical Support
- Act as Tier 2/3 support for complex IT issues
- Troubleshoot system, network, and hardware problems
- Coordinate with vendors and internal teams for resolution
6. Improve Systems & Processes
- Maintain documentation and system records
- Identify and implement improvements in IT operations
- Support automation and standardization efforts
7. Support IT Projects
- Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and deployments
- Assist in planning, testing, and implementation
- Work with team members and communicate with non-technical users
What This Role Requires
- Experience in systems and/or network administration (3–7 years)
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server environments
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks independently
- Good communication skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, Microsoft 365)
- Knowledge of firewalls and security tools
- Scripting skills (PowerShell)
- Relevant certifications (Network+, CCNA, Microsoft)
