Job Description:
The Security Officer works directly with the agency and departmental leadership on day-to-day matters and in executing the ongoing integration of information security with business strategies and requirements in support of departmental objectives.
Typical Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop procedures and document them to prevent any possible data loss by minimizing risk and mitigating the risk immediately.
- Report Security incidents on owned Health Services sites as soon as they are detected.
- Validate workflows to establish and implement a Corrective Action Plan (CAP), as mandated by HIPAA regulations.
- Responsible for providing security preventive measures across different platforms.
- Develop and enforce policies & procedures in alignment with federal and state mandates.
- Oversees all other vulnerabilities, threats and develops contingency plans.
Other Job Duties:
- Be the liaison with Information Technology Department (ITD) on all the information Technology security matters, including managing the implementation of new systems, hardware and cybersecurity solutions.
- Develops implementation plans and schedules.
- Develops system and user procedures and documentation.
- Serves as cloud security engineer and Builds, maintains, upgrades, and continuously improves cloud networks and cloud-based systems.
- Responsible for the operations of secure cloud infrastructure, platforms, and software.
- Install, maintain, and upgrade the organization’s cloud computing environments and core infrastructure.
- Creating cloud-based programs including implementing identity and access management and securely configuring cloud environments.
Special Requests / Skills:
- Expert with HIPAA, familiarity with Health Information Exchange System and Electronic Health records – PLUS.
- Experience with Active Directory, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Database Security.
- Experience with both high-availability and disaster recovery configurations in a cloud environment is a plus.
- Backup and recovery at both Operating System (OS) and database level.
- Ability to create operational and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with and focus on Database, Network, and Application security.
- Certifications are preferred (i.e., HIPAA Security, Privacy, Microsoft).
