Position Overview

This is not a traditional “keep the lights on” networking role. We are seeking an engineer who can apply Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles to the network platform, spanning the carrier edge through cloud fabric to the Kubernetes pod boundary.

The ideal candidate will systematically engineer routine operational work out of existence, treat the network as a single engineered system, and operate within a DevSecOps practice across multi-cloud and multi-region environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply SRE principles, including code-as-source-of-truth, SLOs, and error budgets, to the network platform.
• Replace CLI-driven configurations with declarative, version-controlled changes using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Utilize Terraform, Pulumi, Ansible, and Python for network automation.
• Build network policies based on intent rather than traditional rule lists.
• Implement Policy as Code using OPA/Rego, Sentinel, Cilium, or similar technologies.
• Operate and extend a multi-account AWS Landing Zone.
• Manage container-tier networking across Kubernetes environments.
• Work with service mesh technologies and eBPF-based observability.
• Reduce operational toil by developing runbooks for NOC execution.
• Serve as an escalation point for complex incident response.
• Support reliable network operations across multi-cloud and multi-region environments.

Required Qualifications

• Deep understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VPNs, and SD-WAN architecture.
• Proven production experience with Terraform, Ansible, and Python for network automation.
• Hands-on experience with Cloudflare, Zscaler, and/or enterprise firewalls.
• Experience configuring and working with observability tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, or Grafana.
• Strong understanding of network reliability and automation principles.
• Experience working within DevSecOps environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with service mesh technologies.
• Experience with eBPF.
• Experience with AWS Control Tower.
• Experience with Policy as Code.
• Experience operating cloud-native networking environments.
• Experience supporting multi-cloud and multi-region architectures.
