Position Overview

• Position: Senior Enterprise Architect (Application Modernization & Cloud)
• Location: New York, NY (Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite, 2 Days Remote) [Locals Only]
• Duration: 12 Months Contract
• Work Hours: 37.5 hours/week
• Pay Rate / Salary: USD $60.00 – $65.00 / Hour (C2C)
• Experience Required: Tier 3 (10+ Years of experience)
• Required Work Authorization: USC, GC, GC-EAD, H4-EAD, or TN (LinkedIn profile, Visa copy, and DL required for submission)

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Enterprise Architect with deep expertise in application modernization, cloud-native design, and enterprise application portfolio management. This role focuses on hands‑on architecture execution—developing modern solutions, guiding cloud migrations, creating reusable standards, and partnering with engineering teams to modernize and streamline our application landscape.

The ideal candidate will work across AWS, Azure, and hybrid environments, driving modernization roadmaps, technical debt reduction, and application lifecycle governance.

Key Responsibilities

1. Architecture Standards, Patterns & Modernization Frameworks

• Develop, publish, and maintain robust application and integration architecture standards.
• Create reusable modernization patterns (microservices, APIs, event-driven architecture, containerization).
• Contribute to reference architectures and ensure consistent adoption across all engineering teams.
• Support solution architects and delivery teams in applying approved architectural standards.

2. Application Modernization Execution

• Design tailored modernization paths for legacy applications using the TIME or 6R frameworks (rehost, replatform, refactor, retire).
• Architect cloud‑native and hybrid solutions primarily on Azure (AKS, Functions, APIM, PaaS).
• Partner hands-on with engineering teams during initial design, proof-of-concept (PoC) iterations, and early build phases.
• Guide workload decomposition, define domain boundaries, establish service design, and draft modernization roadmaps.

3. Cloud Architecture & Platform Enablement

• Build and evolve Azure landing zone components and cloud governance configurations.
• Define and establish infrastructure, integration, API, and data patterns for cloud adoption.
• Support seamless hybrid cloud integrations across Azure, AWS, and GCP.
• Continuously evaluate emerging cloud capabilities (AI, observability, DevSecOps, and automation tools).

4. Application Portfolio Management & Rationalization

• Perform comprehensive architecture‑led assessments of our existing software portfolio.
• Identify consolidation, migration, and retirement opportunities to eliminate redundancy and reduce overhead.
• Partner with ServiceNow APM/CMDB to ensure highly accurate application inventories and lifecycle data.
• Develop, track, and present key architectural metrics and dashboards reflecting modernization progress.

5. Technical Debt Analysis & Remediation Support

• Maintain detailed, application-level technical debt insights across the corporate portfolio.
• Partner with product teams to prioritize remediation aligned with business value, risk levels, and modernization sequences.
• Provide strategic guidance on technical debt remediation, patterns, and target-state alignment.

6. Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & DevOps Enablement

• Develop and maintain IaC templates utilizing Terraform, Bicep/ARM, or Pulumi.
• Support CI/CD pipeline architecture using GitHub Actions, GitLab, or Jenkins.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to successfully apply automated configuration management practices (Ansible, Chef, or Puppet).

7. Security, Compliance & Optimization

• Implement cloud security best practices, integrating IAM/RBAC, network security controls, and Azure Key Vault into designs.
• Ensure all architectural solutions strictly align with CIS, NIST, ISO 27001, and MTA security compliance requirements.
• Champion cloud cost optimization efforts leveraging Azure Advisor and FinOps principles.

Required Skills & Certifications

Must-Have Experience

• Computer Systems Architecture: 4 to 6 Years
• Information Architecture: 4 to 6 Years
• IT Architecture: 4 to 6 Years
• Hands-on experience designing cloud-native solutions on Azure and AWS.

Preferred Certifications

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional / Expert
• TOGAF Certification
• ITIL Certification
