Position: Senior Java Application Production Support Engineer

Location: Charlotte, NC – Onsite

Contract: 6-12 Months

 

A senior Java application support professional who can independently manage production incidents, perform root cause analysis, support application maintenance, and deliver small enhancements in an enterprise environment.

 

Required qualifications

• Strong Java application production support experience
• Experience with WebSphere from a production support perspective
• Application and performance monitoring using monitoring tools
• Monitoring server logs and batch jobs to troubleshoot issues
• Root cause analysis (RCA) and resolution of Sev 1 & Sev 2 production incidents
• Application maintenance, performance tuning, and small enhancements
• Ability to interpret technical designs and support enterprise applications

 

Preferred qualifications

• Knowledge of scalable application design, including multithreading and SOA
• Experience researching and resolving business user queries
• Familiarity with Agile release and sprint planning
• Niche combination: Senior Java + WebSphere + Production Support + RCA + Performance Monitoring.

 

Position Overview

Join a team responsible for supporting and enhancing enterprise Java applications where production stability, performance, and rapid incident resolution are critical. This role combines hands-on production support with application maintenance, performance optimization, and technical leadership during high-priority incidents.

What You'll Do

• Provide technical support for in-house Java applications and resolve production issues.
• Triage, investigate, and perform root cause analysis for Sev 1 and Sev 2 incidents.
• Monitor application health using monitoring tools, including server logs and batch jobs.
• Tune application performance and implement small application enhancements.
• Translate technical specifications and system designs into application code for enhancement projects.
• Interpret technical designs to identify the cause of production issues and recommend solutions.
• Lead technical development for production fixes while following established architecture and development standards.
• Serve as the primary production support technical contact for application end users.
• Research and resolve business user queries.
• Support release and sprint planning by translating product roadmap items into technical work.

Required Qualifications

• Strong Java application production support experience.
• Experience supporting applications running on WebSphere.
• Strong application monitoring and performance monitoring skills using monitoring tools.
• Experience monitoring server logs and batch jobs.
• Proven experience performing root cause analysis and resolving critical production incidents.
• Experience with application maintenance, performance tuning, and implementing small enhancements.
• Ability to work with technical designs, system analysis, and enterprise application development.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of building scalable applications using multithreading and SOA techniques.
• Experience supporting Agile release planning and sprint planning.
