Position Overview:
We are looking for a skilled and dependable Mainframe Developer to join our core engineering team onsite in Arizona or Texas. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing mission-critical backend business applications. The ideal candidate will be an expert in debugging system logs, fixing complex production abends swiftly, and ensuring minimum downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
Application Development: Design, code, test, and maintain high-performance core applications using #COBOL, #JCL, #CICS, and #DB2.
Workflow Optimization: Architect and tune batch processing configurations, complex reporting workflows, and data extraction processes (#DECAL).
Production Support & Reliability: Perform root-cause analysis on system logs and fix complex production abends immediately to guarantee minimum system downtime.
Database Management: Write efficient native SQL queries, manage VSAM files, and build robust database structures.
Testing & Collaboration: Perform comprehensive unit testing and collaborate effectively with onsite cross-functional teams to deliver stable software updates.
Required Technical Skills:
Core Mainframe Technologies: Extensive hands-on experience in IBM Mainframe environments with COBOL and JCL.
Online & Database Systems: Solid experience working with CICS online environments and relational DB2 databases.
Data Extraction: Practical familiarity with data extraction methodologies (DECAL) and sorting utilities.
Debugging Tools: Proven expertise in reading system logs and using tools like IBM File Manager, Fault Analyzer, Syncsort, or similar to resolve production abends.
