Role: Network Security Engineer
Location: Sunnyvale, CA – Hybrid
Duration: Contract
We are looking for a candidate who has real-time, hands-on understanding of Palo Alto firewalls and how they are deployed and operated in an enterprise environment. Also looking for someone with knowledge of VXLAN, some exposure to Access Fabric, and a basic understanding of routing and switching.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Hands-on knowledge of Palo Alto Networks firewalls.
• Working knowledge of Panorama.
• Understanding of VXLAN and basic data-center networking.
• Knowledge of BGP and OSPF. • Good understanding of routing and switching fundamentals. • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. • Good communication skills and willingness to learn new technologies.
Roles & Responsibilities-
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage and troubleshoot Palo Alto firewalls and Panorama.
• Work with security policies, NAT, security profiles, and firewall troubleshooting.
• Perform basic firewall configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Support PAN-OS upgrades and Panorama configuration as needed.
• Troubleshoot network connectivity issues involving routing, switching, and firewalls.
• Work with VXLAN and understand basic data-center overlay/underlay concepts.
• Support VRF implementation and migration within the access and security infrastructure.
• Support multi-vsys to zone-based firewall conversion projects.
• Support and troubleshoot BGP and OSPF routing.
• Work with Layer 2/Layer 3 switching, VLANs, trunks, and basic network connectivity.
• Collaborate with network and security teams on production issues.
Certifications – Preferred:
• Palo Alto Networks: PCNSA, PCNSE, or equivalent PAN-OS experience/certification.
• Cisco: CCNA, CCNP Enterprise, or equivalent hands-on Cisco networking experience.
• Relevant networking, security, or data-center certifications are a plus.
