Job Description
PayPal is looking for a GCP Cloud Engineer to support the CP Cloud Modernization – Center of Excellence (CoE) initiative. The engineer will work closely with application and infrastructure teams to design, provision, migrate, and modernize workloads on Google Cloud Platform.
Responsibilities
Provision and configure GCP services including GKE, Cloud Run, Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Cloud SQL, IAM, and VPC.
Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines.
Support application teams with GCP cloud provisioning, migration, and re-platforming.
Act as a bridge between application engineering and infrastructure teams, resolving cloud engineering and setup requirements.
Develop and support Java/Spring Boot microservices running on GCP.
Work with containers, GCP client libraries, and SDKs.
Implement security, monitoring, observability, and cost optimization best practices.
Create and maintain cloud reference architectures, reusable patterns, and technical documentation.
Support cloud modernization initiatives and help teams adopt established GCP standards.
Required Skills
Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Strong understanding of GCP projects, organization hierarchy, deployment models, and core cloud concepts.
Hands-on experience with GKE, Cloud Run, Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Cloud SQL, IAM, and VPC.
Strong Java, Spring Boot, and microservices development experience.
Experience with containerization, GCP SDKs/client libraries, IaC, and CI/CD.
Experience supporting application migration and cloud modernization.
Strong communication skills and ability to work between application and infrastructure teams.
