An IT Senior Technical Project Manager is needed for the Traffic Operations & Signal Operations (TMC) division.
The Senior Technical Project Manager (Sr. TPM) for Traffic Operations and Signal Operations (SigOps) is responsible for initiating, governing, managing, coordinating, and supporting critical transportation technology initiatives across the Traffic Management Center (TMC), Signal Operations, and partner agencies. This role provides leadership for operational technology projects, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS), camera and video management platforms, AI proof-of-concept initiatives, and enterprise operational technology modernization efforts.
The Sr. TPM serves as a primary coordination point between DOT operations teams, IT, consultants, vendors, and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery, operational continuity, technical troubleshooting, and roadmap planning.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Overall Project Management Oversight & Governance
Attend recurring standups and coordination meetings with Signal Operations (SigOps), TMC teams, and PMO governance groups.
Maintain PMO reporting, status updates, risk tracking, and change management compliance.
Ensure that deliverables and documentation are relevant, complete, and received in timeframe to ensure successful delivery planning.
Coordinate across internal teams, vendors, consultants, and partner agencies to resolve operational and technical issues.
Support tactical issue resolution and cross-functional coordination activities.
Facilitate operational readiness planning, support protocols, and coordination for major events and critical transportation initiatives.
Support oversight, vetting, and successful implementation of AI, innovation, and emerging technology initiatives.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage and coordinate multiple transportation technology and operational projects across the TMC and Signal Operations environments.

Additional PM Responsibilities
Support project roadmaps, schedules, and implementation planning by entering all relevant project information consistently for visibility.
Coordinate technical resources, stakeholders, and operational teams.
Confirm prioritization and participation alignment for all projects.
Support minor software applications and operational technology requests as needed.
Monitor project risks, dependencies, and escalation items in waterfall-based and agile configured tools.
Assist with vendor coordination, procurement support, and operational integration activities.
Coordinate ATMS deployments and releases with DOT IT, TMC operations, and consultants.
Facilitate two recurring technical stand-up meetings per week with ATMS technical resources.
Troubleshoot operational, technical, and security-related issues with consultants and DOT IT teams.
Support system enhancement planning, operational continuity, and release coordination.
Assist with ATMS operational support and integration activities.
CAMERA/VIDEO MANAGEMENT PLATFORM RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain recurring camera/video inventory reviews and update processes.
Troubleshoot camera and video system issues across multiple DOT platforms.
Lead Camera/Video roadmap planning and enhancement coordination.
Support onboarding of new agencies into Skyline platform services.
Coordinate camera upgrades and platform improvement initiatives.
Evaluate future Camera/Video Platform integrations, new features, and operational enhancements.
Support stream sharing, camera health monitoring, API performance, and security improvement efforts.
OPERATIONS & MAINTENANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Facilitate security reviews for new hardware and technology evaluations.
Coordinate maintenance windows between IT and TMC operations teams.
Lead network troubleshooting sessions with partner agencies and stakeholders.
Support operational technology maintenance and continuity planning.
Coordinate incident response and issue resolution activities involving transportation systems and field devices.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Transportation Systems, or related field.
5+ years of experience managing technical projects, ITS programs, transportation technology systems, or operational technology initiatives.
Experience supporting Traffic Management Centers (TMC), Signal Operations, ITS infrastructure, or transportation operations environments.
Strong understanding of project management methodologies, operational support, and technology coordination.
Experience working with vendors, consultants, and public-sector stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced operational environment.
Experience with ATMS platforms, traffic signal systems, CCTV/video management systems, or transportation operations technologies.
Familiarity with cloud migration initiatives, APIs, cybersecurity coordination, and operational technology environments.
Experience coordinating deployments, releases, and technical troubleshooting activities.
PMP, PMI-ACP, ITIL, SAFe, or related certifications preferred.
Knowledge of AI, analytics, and smart mobility technologies is a plus.
