Service Delivery Manager (Java)

 

Job Title: Service Delivery Manager (Java/.NET)

Location: Columbus, Ohio – ( 4 days onsite)

Mode: Contract

 

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Service Delivery Manager (SDM) with a strong background in Java or .NET technologies to lead the successful delivery of application development, maintenance, modernization, and support engagements. The ideal candidate should possess a blend of technical expertise, project management capabilities, stakeholder management skills, and experience managing distributed teams.

 

The SDM will be responsible for ensuring on-time, high-quality delivery while maintaining customer satisfaction and continuous improvement across engagements.

 

Key Responsibilities

Delivery Management

* Own end-to-end delivery of projects and programs across development, maintenance, enhancement, and support engagements.

* Ensure delivery commitments are met with respect to scope, schedule, quality, budget, and customer expectations.

* Manage project plans, milestones, dependencies, risks, assumptions, and issues.

* Establish governance mechanisms and conduct regular status reviews with stakeholders.

* Drive adherence to SDLC, Agile, DevOps, and quality assurance processes.

 

Stakeholder & Customer Management

* Build and maintain strong relationships with customer leadership, business stakeholders, and technical teams.

* Act as the primary point of contact for delivery-related discussions and escalations.

* Present project status, risks, mitigation plans, and executive summaries to customer stakeholders.

* Drive customer satisfaction and continuously identify opportunities to improve service delivery.

 

Project & Program Management

* Manage multiple projects simultaneously across various technology streams.

* Track project financials, effort utilization, forecasting, and resource allocation.

* Ensure effective change management and scope control.

* Drive successful project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.

 

People Management

* Lead and mentor technical leads, developers, QA engineers, and support teams.

* Manage team performance, career development, succession planning, and employee engagement.

* Facilitate knowledge sharing and continuous learning within teams.

 

Technical Leadership

* Leverage prior Java or .NET development experience to guide technical discussions and solution decisions.

* Collaborate with architects and engineering teams on technology roadmaps, modernization initiatives, and best practices.

* Review technical risks and ensure appropriate mitigation strategies are in place.

* Promote adoption of cloud, automation, DevOps, and AI-enabled delivery practices.

 

Financial & Operational Management

* Manage revenue forecasting, resource utilization, and margin targets.

* Ensure compliance with organizational processes and contractual commitments.

* Support pre-sales activities, estimation, solution reviews, and proposal development.

 

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

* 10+ years of IT experience with at least 3+ years in Delivery Management or Project Management roles.

* Strong technical background in either Java/J2EE or Microsoft .NET technologies.

* Experience managing Agile and Waterfall projects.

* Proven experience managing customer-facing engagements and distributed teams.

* Strong understanding of SDLC, DevOps, CI/CD, Cloud Platforms (AWS/Azure), and modern software engineering practices.

* Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications

* PMP, PRINCE2, Scrum Master, or Agile certifications.

* Experience managing application modernization and cloud migration projects.

* Exposure to AI-assisted software development tools such as GitHub Copilot.

* Experience in Banking, Financial Services, Insurance, Retail, or Healthcare domains.
