Product Manager – Record to Report (R2R)
Location: Palo Alto, CA (Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite per Week)
Preference: Local candidates preferred; relocation candidates will be considered
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced IT Product Manager – Record to Report (R2R) to lead and manage finance technology initiatives supporting accounting operations and enterprise financial systems. This role will serve as the primary IT owner for the R2R track, partnering closely with Accounting, Finance, and Technology teams to deliver scalable solutions that support financial reporting, compliance, and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in accounting processes, NetSuite, and finance systems, with a proven track record of leading cross-functional projects from strategy and requirements gathering through implementation, user adoption, and post-production support in an Agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the IT Product Manager for the Record to Report (R2R) functional area, supporting stakeholders across:
- General Ledger
- Fixed Assets
- Tax
- Intercompany Accounting
- Financial Close
- Reconciliations
- Commissions Accounting
- Other accounting functions
- Partner closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements, identify process improvements, and deliver technology solutions.
- Gather, document, and translate business requirements into functional specifications for development teams.
- Manage and enhance finance systems including NetSuite, BlackLine, Xactly, and related accounting platforms.
- Lead end-to-end project and program delivery utilizing Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Coordinate with onsite and offshore teams to ensure timely execution and delivery of initiatives.
- Assess the impact of accounting process changes and regulatory requirements on enterprise finance systems.
- Drive system upgrades, enhancements, and process automation initiatives.
- Collaborate with software vendors to evaluate new product capabilities and roadmap opportunities.
- Plan and execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and facilitate business sign-off.
- Provide training and knowledge transfer to IT teams and business users.
- Manage vendor support cases and drive issue resolution through escalation when necessary.
- Communicate project status, risks, dependencies, milestones, and business impacts to stakeholders and leadership.
- Identify opportunities to leverage AI technologies and automation to improve operational efficiency and business processes.
- Ensure compliance with SOX controls, governance standards, and financial regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in business systems, enterprise applications, or finance technology.
- 8+ years of experience supporting Record to Report (R2R) accounting operations.
- 5+ years of experience managing and implementing accounting systems, particularly NetSuite.
- Strong understanding of accounting regulations, including ASC 606 and revenue recognition processes.
- Extensive experience with:
- NetSuite (Required)
- BlackLine
- Xactly (CEA experience preferred)
- SaaS/Cloud-based financial applications
Functional Expertise
Strong knowledge across enterprise business processes including:
- Record to Report (R2R)
- Procure to Pay (P2P)
- Order to Cash (O2C)
- Revenue Management
- Forecasting and Financial Planning
- Accounting and Financial Reporting
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within onsite/offshore delivery models.
- Strong understanding of SOX compliance and financial governance controls.
- Experience implementing automation, AI solutions, or AI agents to improve operational efficiency.
- Familiarity with AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Claude, or similar technologies.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
