• Build and enhance payment gateway and transaction processing systems
• Develop Java/Spring Boot microservices on Azure
• Support POS + store fulfillment systems tied to payments
• Participate in Agile ceremonies (standups, sprint planning, demos every 2 weeks)
• Translate business requirements into scalable backend solutions
• Contribute to internal platform buildout (moving away from 3rd-party vendors)
• Support reporting/dashboarding needs tied to payments data

Must-Have Skills
• 12+ years of software engineering experience
• Strong Java development (non-negotiable)
• Experience with:
o Payment systems / gateways / processors
o Security + authentication (accessing services, APIs, etc.)
• Backend-heavy experience (core business logic / transaction processing)
• Strong communication skills:
o Able to clearly articulate past work
o Comfortable leading discussions + demos
o Able to interface with business teams

• Experience with:
o Payment companies or gateways (e.g., Fiserv, etc.)
o Large-scale retail environments (Walmart, Kohl’s, etc.)
• Broader exposure across end-to-end payments ecosystem
