We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Engineer with deep expertise in COBOL, JCL, IMS, and DB2 to join our core platform team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and supporting critical mainframe applications and batch processes that drive core business operations. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop, enhance, and maintain mainframe programs using COBOL, JCL, IMS, and DB2.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues in a timely manner.
• Review and interpret business requirements and translate them into high-quality technical specifications.
• Design and implement batch jobs and workflows, ensuring performance and reliability.
• Perform impact analysis for system changes and participate in code reviews and peer walkthroughs.
• Collaborate with application developers, business analysts, QA, and infrastructure teams to support end-to-end project delivery.
• Ensure all processes and documentation comply with internal standards and external audit requirements.
• Participate in on-call support rotations and system maintenance activities as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• 6–9 years of hands-on experience in COBOL programming in a mainframe environment.
• Strong knowledge and experience in JCL (Job Control Language) and batch processing.
• Experience working with IMS (Information Management System) for hierarchical data management and transaction processing.
• Strong command of DB2 for data modeling, writing complex SQL, and performance tuning.
• Familiarity with version control tools (e.g., Endevor, Changeman, or similar).
• Experience working in Agile or Waterfall project environments.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
