Job Description:
• Rigorous data analysis to cultivate deep specialist knowledge and extract insight that drives optimal ingestion and data assembly, design data quality standards, and provide decision support for senior management, research, and reporting functions.
• Gather business requirements to document use cases, business processes, and data flows in an actionable way that guides data-driven strategic decisions and solution development.
• Synthesize insight from data analysis and understanding of business requirements to conceptualize holistic and scalable solutions.
• Translate solution or product vision into technical criteria by architecting analytical models.
• Ensure the Development team understands product vision by articulating requirements clearly and succinctly, and at the right level of detail.
What are the ongoing responsibilities of a Business Data Analyst?
• Development and ongoing support of the Common Data Platform (Data Lake) to support Investment Management Research and ad hoc requests.
• Coordinate with external data partners and internal technology teams to support needs and remediate issues.
• Write data quality rules to ensure data veracity and sustainable solutions.
• Understand & balance stakeholder challenges, balance competing priorities.
• Assist Business Partners, Data Scientists, and Data Visualization experts with ad-hoc requests (building SQL queries, understanding data models, and investigating potential issues).
• Partner with the business and engineers to build, buy, launch, implement, and scale solutions.
• Ability to understand technical issues and relate them to business needs.
What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?
• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Finance or Management Information Systems.
• Relevant work experience in the Asset Management Industry, with exposure to investment research, market, security, and risk data.
• Database and SQL (Structured Query Language) experience required.
• Agile software development tools like JIRA.
• Knowledge of Enterprise Data Architecture preferable.
