Responsibilities• Alation Platform Administration:◦ Manage user accounts, roles, and permissions within Alation.◦ Configure and maintain data sources, connections, and integrations.◦ Create and customize workflows, policies, and automation rules.◦ Monitor platform health, performance, and usage.◦ Upgrade and patch the Alation instance as needed.◦ Experience on Azure Virtual machines management, networking, and firewall.◦ Hands on Experience on self-hosted Alation installations.◦ Alation HA setup and maintenance.
• User Support and Training:◦ Provide first and second-level support to Alation users, addressing technical issues and guiding feature usage.◦ Develop and deliver training materials, onboarding sessions, and documentation.◦ Proactively promote Alation adoption and best practices across the organization.
• Data Governance Collaboration:◦ Work closely with data stewards, data owners, and business analysts to align Alation configurations with data governance policies and processes.◦ Define and implement data quality and metadata management standards.◦ Contribute to the development and enforcement of data access and security policies.
• System Enhancements:◦ Identify areas for improvement in Alation's configuration and usage.◦ Recommend and implement new features or customizations to enhance the platform's value.
Qualifications• Required:◦ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.◦ 2+ years of experience in a data-related role (e.g., data analyst, data engineer, database administrator).◦ Working knowledge of data governance principles, data quality, and metadata management.◦ Hands-on experience with relational databases and SQL.
• Preferred:◦ Prior experience with Alation or other data catalog software.◦ Prior experience with Alation self-hosted infra support.◦ Prior experience on Azure portal administration.◦ Experience with scripting languages (Python, JavaScript).◦ Familiarity with data governance frameworks and regulations (GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA, etc.).◦ Certifications in data management or data governance.
