Sr Web Developer opportunity at New York (F2F interview)

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will join the Revenue Fare Management Systems team, supporting:

• Legacy revenue applications for the Railroad
• The New Fare Payment System project
• The roadmap to unify LIRR and MNR revenue systems

• Skilled in designing successful online customer experiences
• Web-based application and API development
• Proficiency in:
• AJAX, HTML, JavaScript, CSS
• Python (Django, FastAPI)
• Docker, Kubernetes (EKS)
• AWS (API Gateway, IAM, Cloud Deployment)
• Windows & Linux scripting (PowerShell, Bash)
• SQL and Oracle PL/SQL
•  
• Familiarity with Financial or Revenue Applications

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop custom modules and APIs in Python
• Build front-end applications for both internal and external use
• Develop real-time transaction systems for ticket validation
• Create tooling and documentation
• Participate in agile ceremonies: planning, daily standups, reviews
• Document code and participate in code reviews
• Estimate and prioritize feature development
• Assist in release planning and execution
• Ensure cross-browser/device compatibility
• Conduct user testing and ensure accessibility compliance

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Strong knowledge of web fundamentals: HTML, JavaScript, CSS
• Advanced Python, PHP, SQL / Oracle PL/SQL
• Experience in object-oriented design and data modeling
• Familiarity with UX design principles and third-party tool integrations
• Understanding of web application security and SEO best practices
• Experience with GitHub and source control systems
• Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills
