Senior Data Engineer/Developer to lead the migration of complex SAS scripts to Python as part of our data modernization initiative. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in both SAS and Python, hands-on experience with version control systems (especially Github), and familiarity with modern coding tools such as Github Copilot. Experience in the mortgage or financial domain is highly desirable.
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with SAS programming (Base SAS, macros, PROC SQL, etc.).
• 4+ years of professional Python development experience (Pandas, NumPy, SQLAlchemy, etc.).
• Proven experience migrating or rewriting legacy SAS code into Python.
• Advanced SQL expertise with hands-on experience in data warehousing, ETL processes (including DataStage or similar tools), data lineage, and data securitization across large-scale data environments.
• Strong SQL/database skills; experience with Snowflake, DB2, or similar platforms a plus.
• Experience with Github Copilot or similar AI coding assistants is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex, disparate data sources into actionable insights.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with AWS cloud data platform is plus.
• Mortgage domain experience (preferred).
Responsibilities:
• Analyze, document, and understand existing SAS scripts and workflows used for data quality, reporting, and ETL in the mortgage domain.
• Utilize AI models and tools (such as Github Copilot) to assist in parsing and converting SAS code to Python, ensuring functional equivalency and performance optimization.
• Design and implement robust, efficient, and maintainable Python solutions to replace SAS code, ensuring functional equivalency and performance optimization.
• Collaborate with business analysts, data engineers, and IT teams to validate requirements and ensure successful migration.
• Develop automated testing strategies to ensure accuracy and reliability of converted scripts.
• Support and enhance data warehousing and ETL pipelines, ensuring data quality, integrity, and traceability.
• Document processes, code, and migration strategies for future reference and audits.
