Title: MongoDB Architect

Client: NTTDATA/Penske Corporation

Location: Onsite (at least twice a week) in Reading, PA — Local candidates preferred

Visa: USC/H4EAD

Duration: 7 months (With further possible extension)

Job Description:

The MongoDB Architect will be responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and optimizing MongoDB and vector database infrastructure to ensure high availability, scalability, performance, and resilience. This role involves close collaboration with development teams and system administrators to ensure optimal data solutions for various applications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, deploy, and manage MongoDB and vector databases for applications of varying scale.
• Ensure high availability and optimal performance of database systems.
• Work with development teams to guide data modeling and database design based on application requirements.
• Implement and maintain MongoDB clusters (replica sets, sharded clusters) and vector databases.
• Perform regular database performance tuning and query optimization.
• Develop and maintain backup and recovery strategies.
• Monitor and troubleshoot issues related to performance, replication, and database health.
• Develop alerts and observability for MongoDB and vector databases.
• Implement database security including roles, authentication, authorization, and encryption.
• Collaborate with system admins to ensure sufficient infrastructure resources.
• Stay updated on MongoDB/Vector DB features, releases, and best practices.
• Document configurations and procedures for knowledge management.
• Provide guidance on MongoDB data access patterns and performance optimization.
• Contribute to the overall data infrastructure strategy, particularly for high-dimensional vectors and complex data relationships.
• Design and integrate vector databases and knowledge graphs with applications.
• Optimize vector operations via indexing and database query design.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in database technologies.
• 3+ years of experience designing business solutions in a hybrid cloud environment.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with MongoDB Atlas and vector database technologies.
• 5+ years of experience working with cloud platforms like AWS and Microsoft Azure.
• Strong skills in SQL, PowerShell, and Unix shell scripting.
• Proficiency with database tools: TOAD, SQL Developer, PGAdmin, Mongo CLI, MongoDB Compass.
• Advanced knowledge of:
  • Database security
  • Backup and recovery strategies
  • Performance monitoring standards
• Experience with relational and dimensional data modeling.
• Experience with database migrations and upgrades.
• Proven ability to build, optimize, and deploy database workloads in public cloud environments.
• Expertise in schema design and data modeling.
• Passion for automation and database infrastructure optimization in a globally distributed team environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present concepts to stakeholders.
