Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mainframe Architect with over 10 years of software development experience and strong hands-on expertise in Mainframe technologies. This is a hybrid role, requiring 2–3 days onsite per week in either Richmond, VA or McLean, VA. The Architect will bring proven architectural experience, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to design and deliver scalable mainframe solutions using COBOL, JCL, VSAM, CICS, REXX, and DB2 within an Agile environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Serve as a Mainframe Architect, leading design and development activities across large-scale enterprise projects.
• Design, develop, and implement mainframe solutions using COBOL, JCL, VSAM, CICS, REXX, and DB2.
• Perform root-cause analysis, troubleshooting, and optimization of mainframe applications and components.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to development teams.
• Participate in architecture reviews, design discussions, and technical documentation.
• Ensure system reliability, scalability, and performance meet enterprise standards.
• Work closely with cross-functional Agile teams and collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into actionable solutions.

Mandatory Skills

1. Mainframe Core Skills: Strong hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, VSAM, CICS, REXX, DB2.
2. Architecture & Design: Proven experience architecting mainframe-based enterprise solutions.
3. Agile Environment Experience: Hands-on work with Agile methodologies and DevOps integration.
4. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in financial services or banking domain.
• Strong leadership in mainframe modernization or integration initiatives.
• Ability to manage distributed teams.
