Job Description:
The successful candidate will become a member of the Distributed Systems group within the Information Technology Department. The candidate’s primary responsibility will be to manage the Linux (RHEL) server infrastructure as part of a Linux administrators. Work will primarily be remote, with the ability to come into the office or data center on occasion as required. Interviewing will begin at once.
Seeking resumes for a Senior Linux System Administrator responsible for managing a large number of Linux (RHEL) servers in the Distributed Systems group within the Information Technology department.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert-level support for RHEL-based systems, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools to streamline system administration tasks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement solutions that meet business requirements.
- Perform regular system monitoring, ensuring the integrity, availability, and security of all RHEL systems.
- Investigate and resolve complex technical issues, including system crashes, performance bottlenecks, and security vulnerabilities.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies related to Linux systems and open-source software.
Required Skills:
- At least 7+ years’ experience in administering RHEL-based systems in an enterprise environment.
- Proficiency in shell scripting and automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
- Deep understanding of Linux networking, storage, and security concepts.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to analyze system logs and performance metrics.
- Experience with virtualization technologies, preferably VMware or Nutanix.
- Ability to understand and follow Change Management Processes in highly available critical applications.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Service Now experience.
- Knowledge of configuration management tools like Git and version control systems.
- Understanding of DevOps principles and practices.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience.
