Job Description:
The Industrial Engineering Supervisor III serves a lead role within the Distribution and Logistics Engineering group to support customer implementations, large scale projects, and technology deployments. This position designs and implements distribution warehouse and supply chain models for customers within the UPS network while leveraging the latest technologies. The incumbent applies work measurement, methods and procedures, operations research, finance, information system modeling, statistical analysis, project management, and sight layout in a distribution environment to perform their role. This position coordinates work of other engineers, cross functional teams, and customers to ensure (internal/external) expectations are met while achieving expected financial returns for UPS.

Responsibilities:
Collaborates with Solutions and Business Development to identify data requirements for project scope to determine project responsibilities, teammates, and customers
Recommends adjustments to ensure solutions incorporate an accurate scope of work
Serves as a resource to departments for operational problem identification, resolution, and continuous improvement for organic growth opportunities
Analyzes optimization-modeling needs to determine data necessary to construct operating plans and distribution layouts
Performs cost benefit analyses to ensure effective use of UPS resources and maximum return-on-investment
Communicates with cross-functional teams to determine project feasibility
Creates functional design requirements to define how processes will perform
Performs gap analyses between solution and post implementation operating results
Acts as liaison to UPS functional groups to coordinate key issues in Fulfillment network plans
Resolves conflicts and clarifies communications with UPS stakeholders to maintain program alignment with corporate goals
Provides assistance with project deliverables to ensure budget and timelines are met
Assists with validation of planned versus actual task completion to determine project impacts
Utilizes work measurement, gap analysis, statistical analysis, discussions with management, and operations visits to identify issues and problems impacting the achievement of performance and service goals
Develops solutions to operational issues and provides recommendations for improvement
Participates in Business Review and Planning meetings and works with the operations management team to implement solutions and conduct follow-up
Works with operations management team to implement changes in operations to reach desired cost reduction and service improvements
Audits and analyzes existing processes to identify areas for potential improvements and operational efficiencies
Preferences:
Bachelor’s Degree (or internationally comparable degree)
Bachelor’s Degree (or internationally comparable degree) in Industrial Engineering or related field – Preferred
Understanding of Warehouse Management System (WMS) design and functionality – Required
Identifies current and future needs of the customer or business; understands how business needs dictate the project’s requirements, project direction, business objectives, and resource allocation; makes recommendations on the solutions-design phase of the project
Specifies facts, research, and perspectives necessary to make projections; analyzes statistics and qualitative information within specified parameters; researches trends and conditions used to make projections
Demonstrates understanding of implementation objectives, project plan, and one’s role within a project; participates in the implementation of a project; provides timely, thorough, and concise updates for area of responsibility; identifies areas of risk and properly communicates them to the project manager
Independently conducts standard analyses to identify problems in methods, processes, or workflow; interprets results of analyses and recommends solutions to address identified requirements, problems, or inefficiencies
Demonstrates a basic knowledge of risk management fundamentals
Leverages technological knowledge to achieve business objectives; resolves technological issues impeding work; adapts technological information, facts, or data to varying situations or groups and recommends changes to technological approach based upon knowledge of trends and best practices
Identifies common problems with current work designs; specifies requirements for new work designs; modifies or adjusts existing work methods, processes, and flows to resolve operations failures
