SCM Innovators
Technical Product Owner – SAP Commerce Cloud (Hybris) Platform
Term : Long Term Contract
Location : Remote (USA) with quaterly travel
Max Rate : $70 Per hour C2C
Required Qualifications
6+ years in product ownership, technical program management, or engineering on a large-scale transactional commerce platform, with 3+ years owning a platform or domain end to end.
Hands-on SAP Commerce Cloud (Hybris) experience — the type system and items.xml, service and facade layering, OCC controllers, ImpEx, cron jobs, the task engine, business process (BPM) order flows, and CCv2 aspect topology (api, backgroundProcessing, backoffice).
Genuine technical fluency. You can read Java and Spring configuration, reason about a SQL execution plan, interpret a distributed trace, and tell a cache problem from a locking problem from a capacity problem. You will not be able to do this job by proxy.
Production incident ownership — demonstrated experience leading Sev1/Sev2 root-cause analysis on a revenue-critical system and driving remediation to verified zero.
Data-driven prioritization. Comfort querying logs and telemetry yourself to size a problem before committing engineering capacity to it.
Azure DevOps at working depth — work item hierarchy, WIQL queries, boards, wiki, and pipelines. SAFe PI planning experience.
Excellent structured written communication. This team runs on written analysis — findings documents, ADRs, executive summaries, and release reports. Clear writing is a hard requirement, not a soft skill.
Stakeholder range. You can hold a design argument with a principal engineer in the morning and give an availability-and-cost readout to business leadership in the afternoon.
Preferred Qualifications
Grocery, retail, or omnichannel commerce domain experience — especially EBT SNAP/WIC, or another regulated tender or payment-compliance surface.
Order management and fulfillment integration experience (OMS, marketplace/3P, store pickup and delivery).
Working knowledge of Kafka event-driven integration, Redis caching and distributed locking, and Azure SQL performance characteristics.
Observability practice — OpenTelemetry instrumentation strategy, span and attribute naming conventions, sampling policy, and dashboard and alert design. This platform has an active OTel and Observe migration in flight.
Major platform upgrade or migration experience (JDK or Spring major version, or a commerce platform replatform).
AI-assisted engineering workflows — agent instructions, MCP tooling, skill authoring — and the judgment to know where determinism must replace inference.
Feature-flag-driven delivery (LaunchDarkly) and performance testing (k6, JMeter).
