Overview

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries & Parks (MDWFP) is looking for a .NET / Power BI Developer to support application development, reporting, business intelligence, and modernization initiatives. The role involves developing internal applications, creating Power BI dashboards, working with SQL databases, and collaborating with business stakeholders to deliver data-driven solutions.

 

Key Responsibilities

·        Develop and support applications using C#, .NET, ASP.NET, and .NET Core

·        Build and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, datasets, and visualizations

·        Create data models, measures, and calculations using DAX and Power Query

·        Develop and support Web Forms, APIs, integrations, and business applications

·        Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and database objects

·        Perform ETL, data transformation, reporting automation, and data cleanup

·        Troubleshoot application, database, reporting, and data quality issues

·        Gather business requirements and translate them into technical solutions

·        Modernize legacy applications, reports, and workflows

·        Document technical processes, system changes, and reporting logic

·        Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior developers

·        Collaborate with IT teams and business users on reporting and data governance initiatives

Required Skills & Experience

·        Strong experience with C#, .NET, ASP.NET, and/or .NET Core

·        Hands-on experience developing Power BI reports, dashboards, and visualizations

·        Strong SQL development experience (queries, stored procedures, troubleshooting)

·        Experience building Web Applications, APIs, and Business Applications

·        Experience supporting web applications and web server environments

·        Ability to gather requirements and work directly with business stakeholders

·        Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills

·        Ability to work independently and mentor junior team members

Preferred Technical Skills

·        Power BI, DAX, Power Query

·        SQL Server

·        JavaScript, AngularJS, ReactJS

·        HTML, CSS, Bootstrap

·        Visual Basic

·        APIs and Web Forms

Preferred Qualifications

·        Experience in Government, Public Sector, or Enterprise environments

·        Experience building Executive Dashboards and BI solutions

·        Familiarity with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Azure, and Entra ID

·        Knowledge of Data Governance, Security, and Access Controls

·        Experience with Application Modernization and Process Improvement initiatives
