Senior Network Security Engineer – W2 Only

Seeking an experienced Senior Network Security Engineer to serve as a technical leader for a premier client in Washington, DC. Responsible for safeguarding critical enterprise infrastructure across on-prem and multi-cloud environments (AWS & Azure) with a heavy focus on Palo Alto Networks firewalls.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, configure, and optimize Palo Alto firewalls and perimeter security platforms
Manage WAF, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and NAC technologies
Secure hybrid cloud architectures across AWS and Azure
Lead threat hunting, incident response, and forensic investigations
Ensure compliance with NIST, CIS, PCI-DSS, HIPAA, and ISO 27001
Automate security workflows using Python, PowerShell, or Bash
Mentor junior engineers and guide project teams
Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, CS, IT, or related field
11+ years of cybersecurity engineering experience
Advanced hands-on Palo Alto administration in complex enterprises
Deep TCP/IP, routing, switching, and VPN expertise
Experience with IDS/IPS, SIEM, EDR, DLP, CASB, and WAF
AWS and Azure cloud security experience
Scripting proficiency (Python, PowerShell, or Bash)
Knowledge of NIST, CIS, PCI-DSS, HIPAA, ISO 27001
Preferred: Master’s degree | PCNSE, CISSP, CCNP Security, GIAC, CEH, or Security+ | SOC experience | Zero Trust and cloud-native security tools
