Role: Azure Data Engineer – Databricks + Healthcare
Location: Remote (USA)
Type: Contract (C2C)
Certification: Azure Databricks certification.
Responsibilities:
Design, build, and maintain data pipelines using Azure services (Data Factory, Databricks, Data Lake, Synapse).
Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes for large healthcare datasets (EMR, claims, clinical, payer/provider data).
Work closely with data architects, BI teams, and stakeholders to deliver clean, well-modeled data for analytics and reporting.
Implement best practices for data quality, performance, security, and governance, including PHI/PII handling.
Troubleshoot data issues and optimize jobs for performance and cost in Azure.
Create and maintain technical documentation for data flows and solutions.
Required Skills:
5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, with strong focus on Azure.
Hands-on experience with Azure Databricks (PySpark/Scala), Azure Data Factory, and Azure Data Lake.
Strong SQL skills (T-SQL) and experience working with large, complex datasets.
Proven experience on healthcare projects (payer, provider, EMR, claims, clinical, population health, etc.).
Good understanding of data modeling (star/snowflake) and modern data warehousing concepts.
Familiarity with HIPAA and secure handling of PHI/PII.
Preferred:
Azure Databricks certification.
