Job Title: Senior Mainframe Developer
Location: Chicago, IL – Day 1 onsite (only locals)

Job Description:
We are seeking a Senior Mainframe Developer to join our existing project team in Chicago. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, upgrading, and supporting various system software products for TNT’s z/OS operating system environment. The role requires expertise in DB2 database and tools, COBOL, PL/1 programming, JCL, Assembly-level programming, and CICS.
Principal Responsibilities:
Install, maintain, and upgrade system software products for the z/OS operating system.
Work with DB2, COBOL, PL/1, JCL, Assembly, and CICS in a mainframe environment.
Communicate project status and collaborate with client stakeholders, project managers, and team members.
Recreate primitive CICS systems in lower environments.
Modify, test, and debug Assembler and PL/1 programs efficiently.
Provide solutions to modernize legacy architecture based on mainframe systems.
Ensure system stability and follow TNT change control and support methodologies.
Collaborate with team members and SMEs to design and brainstorm solutions.
Analyze, evaluate, troubleshoot, test, document, and implement system software upgrades and new software packages according to client specifications.
Support Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies and Agile framework.
Monitor software performance and implement changes to ensure optimal performance.
Adapt to changing roles and dynamic priorities while working independently and managing time effectively.
Work with people from diverse backgrounds and roles.
Required Skills & Experience:
10+ years of experience in IBM mainframe technologies.
Strong proficiency in JCL, DB2, SQL, and experience with developing stored procedures (both Cobol and Native).
Expertise in Assembler Programming/Debugging.
Experience with COBOL, PL/1, and CICS programming languages.
Hands-on experience with IBM utilities such as FileAid, QMF, SPUFI.
Strong knowledge of DFSORT and version control tools.
Experience using GitHub/IDz and Microsoft Visio.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to make sound, timely, fact-based decisions.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field (preferred).
Nice to Have:
Experience with Control-M Scheduling.
Familiarity with data analysis tools and techniques.
Financial Services or Banking experience (preferred but not mandatory).
