Job Title: Java Technical Lead
Location: Mountain View, CA (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)
 

Job Description:

We are seeking a Java Technical Lead to join our team in a hybrid role based in Mountain View, CA. This position requires a seasoned hands-on technologist who can lead a team of engineers while contributing to the design, development, and delivery of scalable backend systems. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Java development, cloud-native applications, and modern DevOps tools.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead a team of Java developers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and code reviews.
• Design and implement scalable backend services using Java, Kubernetes, and NoSQL technologies.
• Drive architecture decisions and ensure best practices are followed for code quality, security, and performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, DevOps, and QA.
• Maintain and enhance existing systems using modern cloud technologies including AWS Elasticache and other managed services.
• Ensure smooth CI/CD pipelines and production releases in a hybrid cloud environment.
• Troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance system performance and reliability.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 8+ years of professional experience in Java-based backend development.
• 2+ years in a technical/team leadership role with hands-on contribution.
• Strong experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration and microservices deployment.
• Proficient with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB).
• Hands-on experience with AWS Elasticache (Redis or Memcached) for in-memory data caching.
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design and distributed systems.
• Experience with cloud platforms (preferably AWS) and DevOps practices.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to guide and mentor a team.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
