Job Title: Java Engineer with Data Steward
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Contract
Data Steward role focusing on data governance, record retention, and deletion policies. Responsibilities include:
Work with record retention and deletion policies, identifying data-related risks and associated controls for key business processes such as data quality, data movement, data stewardship, data protection, and data sharing.
Apply data management and data governance concepts including metadata, data lineage, and data quality.
Conduct root-cause analysis of data quality issues and drive remediation of audit and regulatory feedback.
Monitor holistic platform data quality, especially critical data elements, and communicate issues while driving resolution.
Develop deep understanding of enterprise data-related policies and educate teams on policy implications.
Collaborate with product managers to ensure new use cases adhere to policies and contribute to strategic improvements in data assessment processes and analytical tools.
Support regulatory reporting needs by working with upstream data providers, downstream business partners, and technology teams.
Partner with the Data Steward Manager to develop and manage the data compliance roadmap.
Required skills and experience:
25 years of data quality management experience.
Intermediate competency in SQL and Python or related programming languages.
Strong familiarity with data architecture and data modeling concepts.
25 years of experience with Agile or SAFe methodologies.
8+ years of professional experience as a Java Engineer using Spring Boot and related frameworks.
Experience developing RESTful web services and deploying microservice architectures.
Experience migrating applications to Google Cloud Platform.
Familiarity with software security best practices and monitoring tools.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
