We are seeking a talented and creative iSeries/AS400 Developer to join our team and support application development and solutions for one of the leading Wholesale Retailers in the US. Key Responsibilities
• Application Development:
o Analyze and develop iSeries code to support various applications within the Retail Domain.
o Create functional specifications using standard practices, processes, and procedures.
o Perform code reviews, unit testing, and coordinate with development team members on development and QA tasks.
o Adhere to the client’s IS division development standards, deployment processes, and procedures.
• Collaboration & Communication:
o Collaborate with the Product Owner, business area, team members, and QA to ensure requirements are clearly defined, understood, and documented.
o Participate in development estimation, deployment, and release planning to ensure timely delivery of solutions.
• Support & Maintenance:
o Provide 2nd level support for incident resolution, create KB articles for 1st level support, and offer on-call support.
o Perform peer reviews on source code to ensure reuse, scalability, and adherence to best practices.
• Technical Discussions:
o Participate in collaborative discussions focused on software user experience, design, architecture, and development.
Requirements
Must-Have Skills:
• iSeries Platform Expertise:
o Proficient in analyzing and creating programs using RPG, RPG ILE, SQLRPGLE, and Control Language (CLP/CLLE).
o Strong knowledge of SQL concepts, including analyzing and modifying complex SQL queries, embedded SQL in SQLRPGLE, cursor programming, and SQL stored procedures.
o Solid understanding of database concepts, including creating and analyzing physical files, logical files, SQL tables, indexes, views, and stored procedures.
o Experience in screen programming (Display Files, Subfiles, and Printer files).
• ILE Programming:
o Ability to analyze and create program modules, binding directories, and service programs.
• Message Queue (MQ):
o Working knowledge of Message Queue (MQ), MQ Triggers, and embedding XML tags in RPG programs.
• Documentation & Analysis:
o Ability to document business rules effectively and create data mapping documents by analyzing program flows and data flows.
• Communication Skills:
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to own project tasks independently based on client communication.
Good-to-Have Skills:
• Familiarity with Turnover (code configuration management tool) and X-Analysis (cross-reference tool for iSeries).
• Knowledge of Triggers and Message Queuing for inter-program/inter-system communication.
• Experience with ROBOT job scheduler for creating and setting up scheduled jobs in iSeries.
• Understanding of normalized and denormalized tables, Star Schema databases, and iSeries Navigator for query execution and performance analysis.
• Domain knowledge in Retail, especially in areas like Merchandising, Warehouse Management, and Distribution.
