Position Summary
The Database/ETL Test Engineer is a key member of software development within CHIA’s organization and our Data Operations and Technology team and will report to the Manager of Software Test.
- As a member of this team, the Database/ETL Test Engineer responsibilities will include the following:
- Create and execute test cases based on test strategy and test plans as defined by business requirement documents and ETL design documents.
- Test ETL Datawarehouse components and backend data-driven tests.
- Create strategies and test cases for data applications.
- Provide guidance to other team members as needed. Identify issues pertaining to data submissions or ETL transactions during the creation of data warehouses.
- Be able to discuss these issues with DBA’s, assist with remediation strategies, and help devise timelines for correction.
- Define and track quality assurance metrics such as defects, defect counts, test results and test status.
- Document all problems using Azure DevOps or CHIA’s bug tracking tool and assist in their resolution.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- Experience Database testing with excellent SQL skills, Snowflake experience preferred.
- Experience working with ETL Tools and Data warehouse testing, Talend Data Fabric experience preferred.
- Experience writing and working with automated testing methodologies, Python experience preferred.
- Experience with Agile Software Development & Testing methods for deployment in cloud environments, preferably MS Azure.
- Five or more years of relevant experience testing backend applications, focusing on complex SQL queries.
- Experience analyzing ETL mapping documents to design test plans for validating ETL code.
- Experience creating and executing strategies and test cases for both front end applications and data warehousing processes.
