Role: Sr. Software Tester / QA Analyst
Client: Virginia Information Technology Agency (VITA) – Virginia Tax
Location: Richmond, VA (Hybrid – Onsite 2–3 days/week) – Locals only

Virginia Tax is seeking a Senior Test Analyst with strong manual and automated testing experience using industry-standard tools, frameworks, and methodologies. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who can collaborate effectively with both functional and technical teams, support UAT coordination, and contribute to improving testing processes within Agile environments.
Responsibilities & Expectations:
Perform manual and automated testing aligned with ITQM standards.
Implement and execute test strategies, test plans, methodologies, and frameworks in Agile projects.
Work closely with BA and IT teams to gather requirements, identify gaps, and provide LOE estimates.
Coordinate UAT users, prepare UAT test scripts, and support execution.
Conduct dry runs, smoke tests, and execute automation scripts.
Write and maintain test cases in Gherkin syntax.
Perform root cause analysis, recreate defects with developers, and update defect statuses.
Review test metrics for process optimization.
Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
8+ years of QA/testing experience.
ISEB / ISTQB certification (practitioner level or equivalent).
Strong experience with test management & version control tools (Azure DevOps, TFS, Git).
Advanced SQL skills including writing complex SQL queries for test data creation.
Proficiency in Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, XML.
Knowledge of one or more programming languages (Ruby, Java, Python).
Experience working in both Windows and Linux environments.
Deep understanding of risk-based testing.
Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
