Technical Product Owner – API & Developer Platforms

  • Job Title: DX Product Owner
  • Location: Onsite – Columbus, OH (No remote)
  • Client: Cognizant / JPMC
  • Request ID: 52159-1

Job Summary

We are seeking a Technical Product Owner to lead the Developer Experience (DX) strategy within a large-scale banking environment. Unlike a traditional customer-facing PO, your “product” consists of cloud-based platforms, internal APIs, and technical tools used by thousands of internal software engineers. You will bridge the gap between high-level platform architecture and daily agile execution, managing 1-2 Scrum teams to deliver scalable, developer-centric features. This role requires a background in Banking/Financial Services and a deep understanding of the API and SaaS product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities & Required Skills

Developer Platform & API Strategy

  • Platform Ownership: Drive the end-to-end lifecycle of internal cloud-based platforms and API services, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and user-friendly for internal dev teams.
  • Requirement Engineering: Partner with Sr. Product Managers to write highly technical Epics and User Stories that define API endpoints, integration patterns, and platform capabilities.
  • Roadmap Prioritization: Maintain a technical backlog that balances new feature development with technical debt and platform reliability.

Agile Team Coordination

  • Scrum Leadership: Manage and coordinate 1-2 Scrum teams, leading all ceremonies and acting as the primary point of contact for engineers and architects.
  • Blocker Removal: Interact daily with engineering teams to clarify technical requirements and remove blockers to ensure features are delivered on time.
  • Product Metrics: Analyze technical KPIs such as API performance, platform adoption rates, and developer satisfaction to inform the roadmap.

Banking & Fintech Integration

  • Domain Expertise: Leverage your experience in Banking/Financial Services to ensure platform features comply with project governance and reporting standards.
  • Advanced Systems: Contribute to the development of cloud-native platforms, SaaS products, and payment-related project infrastructure (ACH, Credit Card, etc.).

Mandatory Technical Skills

  1. Technical Product Management: Experience managing APIs, SDKs, or internal developer tools.
  2. Agile Leadership: Proven ability to drive development progress for multiple technical Scrum teams.
  3. Financial Domain: Strong background in Banking or Fintech (Cloud and SaaS platforms preferred).

Next Step: Would you like me to tailor the screening questions to focus on “Time-to-Hello-World” and API documentation standards, which are critical for this DX role?

Thanks,
