Position: Business Central Senior Developer/Architect

Location: 100% REMOTE (India)

Duration: Full Time

Technology Stack: Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (Cloud preferred), AL, Extensions, Azure

 

About the Role

Our client, a leading truck rental and fleet services organization, is undertaking a full modernization of its existing business-critical ERP ecosystem. The Business Central Architect / Senior Developer will be responsible for architecting, designing, and implementing the end-to-end Business Central solution that will run the core rental, maintenance, dispatch, billing, finance, and customer operations.

This role involves deep Business Central solutioning, technical leadership, integration architecture, and custom module design specific to truck rental workflows. The ideal profile is an expert-level BC resource capable of leading both architecture and hands-on development while collaborating with product, operations, and business leads.

 

Key Responsibilities

Solution Architecture & Design

  • Design end-to-end Business Central architecture to support truck rental operations
  • Lead requirements mapping, technical workshops, and solution design sessions
  • Establish system blueprint covering rental lifecycle, scheduling, fleet, maintenance, billing, and finance
  • Define customization vs. configuration strategy, extension patterns, and upgrade paths
  • Design integration architecture with external systems (fleet, telematics, CRM, finance, maintenance, payment, etc.)

Development & Build

  • Develop Business Central custom modules, extensions, and APIs using AL
  • Translate business processes into scalable system components
  • Lead data modeling, data migration strategy, and environment setup
  • Implement workflows, automation, and event-driven customizations
  • Build new modules for fleet lifecycle, asset management, work orders, invoicing, pricing, and rental contracts

Program Leadership

  • Work closely with product owners, business stakeholders, and engineering teams
  • Mentor developers and contribute to code review, performance optimization, and DevOps practices
  • Support environment management, deployment pipelines, and release governance
  • Drive BC best practices aligned to Microsoft standards

Operations & Continuous Improvement

  • Implement telemetry, monitoring, and performance tuning
  • Support UAT, training, documentation, and post go-live stabilization
  • Ensure system remains scalable for multi-location and multi-state operations

 

Required Skills & Experience

  • 7+ years of experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV / Business Central
  • Strong experience in BC architecture, development, and extensions (AL)
  • Experience deploying BC for asset or rental-based businesses (plus)
  • Experience in cloud deployments (SaaS or hybrid) and upgrade-safe development
  • Experience building and consuming APIs, integrations, and event messaging
  • Experience with Azure stack (Service Bus, Functions, Logic Apps, API Mgmt) preferred
  • Strong understanding of financials, billing, inventory, and asset/fleet management
  • Proven experience leading complex ERP implementations as lead or architect

 

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with transportation, logistics, rental, or fleet industries
  • Experience with telematics integrations (GPS/maintenance/usage data)
  • Asset depreciation + cost accounting knowledge
  • Familiarity with Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse)
  • CI/CD DevOps pipelines for BC builds
  • Enterprise data migration experience

 

Soft Skills

  • Ability to engage directly with business owners and operations leads
  • Excellent communication and documentation capability
  • Strong problem-solving and solution ownership mindset
  • Ability to work in fast-paced and changing environments

 

Project Context

This is a strategic digital transformation initiative. The selected resource will help replace the existing proprietary operational system with Business Central as the new backbone running rental, fleet, maintenance, logistics, billing, invoicing, and financials across the company.
