Position Overview
VDOT’s Asset Management Team is seeking a Business Analyst with strong IT project experience to bridge the gap between business users and technical teams. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in requirements gathering, process analysis, documentation, and testing within both Agile and Waterfall environments.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze complex systems and processes, identifying improvements and root causes.
Gather, document, and validate functional and non-functional requirements.
Conduct stakeholder interviews and facilitate workshops. Translate business requirements into technical documentation. Create wireframes, process diagrams, and data flow diagrams using tools like Visio. Work closely with development and QA teams to ensure requirements are properly implemented and tested.
Manage product backlogs, epics, features, user stories, and test cases using Azure DevOps (TFS).
Support System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
Assist in the rollout of new systems and manage user adoption activities.
Prepare and deliver clear documentation and presentations for technical and business audiences.
Required Skills & Experience
8+ years of experience as a Business Analyst on IT software/application projects.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes.
Familiarity with enterprise software such as Oracle and SQL Server.
Understanding of databases, SQL, APIs, and data flow concepts.
Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps (TFS) for managing agile artifacts.
Excellent communication, documentation, and presentation skills.
Proven ability to handle conflicting priorities and negotiate effectively.
Local to Richmond, VA (or within commutable distance).
