About the role

CoverMyMeds is moving a large portfolio of on-premises applications off VMware and onto an internal Azure-based platform running on AKS, ahead of a data center exit. You’ll be a hands-on engineer on that migration. You’ll take existing applications built in Rails, .NET, Python, and Elixir, containerize and re-platform them, and get them running reliably in Azure through automated pipelines.

What you’ll do

Assess on-prem applications for migration readiness, identifying dependencies, configuration, secrets, and data stores.
Containerize Rails, .NET, Python, and Elixir applications and deploy them to Azure Kubernetes Service, including Helm charts and manifests.
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps for build, test, and deployment.
Re-platform legacy application code and configuration as needed, such as externalizing config, replacing file-system or host-specific dependencies, and integrating with Azure Key Vault.
Plan and execute cutovers with application-owning teams, including rollback plans and post-deploy validation.
Wire migrated apps into standard observability and alerting, and document each migration so the owning team can run it afterward.
Required qualifications

5+ years of software or platform engineering experience, with at least 2 years working hands-on with Kubernetes in production, preferably AKS.
Proven experience building CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions and/or Azure DevOps.
Experience re-platforming or modernizing legacy applications for containers.
Working ability to read and modify code in Ruby on Rails, .NET, Python, and/or Elixir, with depth in at least one.
Solid understanding of Azure core services, including networking, identity, Key Vault, and managed databases.
Strong troubleshooting skills across application, container, and network layers.
Nice to have

Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code experience.
Prior VMware-to-cloud migration program experience.
Experience with Datadog and PagerDuty, and with certificate management and mTLS.
Experience in healthcare or other regulated industries.
