Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Kubernetes & OpenShift Administrator to deploy, administer, upgrade, and troubleshoot enterprise container platforms and their underlying Linux environments. The role combines platform operations, GitOps, CI/CD automation, and application onboarding to maintain secure, highly available, fault-tolerant clusters and support reliable software delivery. The ideal candidate brings practical administration experience across both Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to collaborate with application and infrastructure teams.
Â
Key Responsibilities
Platform deployment and lifecycle management: Install, configure, administer, upgrade, and troubleshoot Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift clusters on Linux, maintaining cluster health, availability, performance, and security.
OpenShift administration: Manage OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) environments and Operator installations and upgrades; support multicluster management using Advanced Cluster Management (ACM), where applicable.
Troubleshooting and incident resolution: Diagnose and resolve cluster, application, and infrastructure issues involving pods, services, ingress, networking, DNS, certificates, container runtimes, and deployment pipelines.
Automation and artifact management: Develop Bash and Groovy scripts to automate deployment, integration, monitoring, and routine operations; manage build artifacts, container images, and dependencies using Nexus and Git repositories.
Linux administration: Install, configure, upgrade, and troubleshoot Red Hat Linux systems; perform system monitoring, log analysis, and performance tuning supporting container platforms.
Platform security: Apply role-based access control (RBAC), network policies, and applicable pod security controls to support secure cluster and workload operations.
Modernization and delivery practices: Support migration of monolithic applications to microservices on Kubernetes/OpenShift and establish consistent containerization, CI/CD, and automated testing practices.
Collaboration and knowledge sharing: Work with application, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to resolve deployment dependencies and operational issues; mentor junior team members and share platform administration practices.

Required Technical Skills & Experience
Strong hands-on administration experience with both Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift, including cluster installation, configuration, upgrades, ongoing operations, and troubleshooting.
Experience administering OpenShift Operators and supporting highly available, fault-tolerant container platforms on Linux.
Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills, particularly with Red Hat Linux, including system logs, monitoring, and performance analysis.
Practical experience with Argo CD, GitOps, Helm, and Git for application configuration, packaging, and repeatable deployments.
Experience building and maintaining Jenkins CI/CD pipelines, including Groovy scripting and shared libraries.
Experience with Nexus Repository for build artifacts, dependencies, and container image management.
Strong Bash and Groovy scripting skills for deployment and operational automation.
Solid understanding of containerization, Docker concepts, container runtime fundamentals, Kubernetes networking, pods, services, ingress, DNS, and certificates.
Working knowledge of RBAC, network policies, and pod security controls applicable to Kubernetes/OpenShift environments.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex application and infrastructure issues and collaborate effectively across technical teams.
Â
Preferred Platform Experience
Administration of RKE2-based Kubernetes environments.
Installation and operation of Advanced Cluster Management (ACM) for OpenShift multicluster management.
Installation and administration of OpenShift clusters (multi-nodes).
Installation and upgrade support for IBM Cloud Pak applications on OpenShift.
GKE setup and operational support.
Experience with GitHub CI/CD and automated testing integration.
Installation and configuration of Linux/CentOS guest operating systems in VMware ESXi environments.
