Role: Power BI Engineer / Developer

Location: Phoenix, AZ – Onsite

Duration: 6+ Months

Role Description

1. Power BI & Business Intelligence

Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
Advanced proficiency in DAX, Power Query / M, SQL, semantic models, relationships, filter context, security, refresh strategies, and performance optimization.
Design efficient star/snowflake schemas, dimensional models, reusable semantic layers, and enterprise reporting standards.
Implement Row-Level Security (RLS), data-access controls, Import, DirectQuery, composite models, incremental refresh, and gateways.
Experience with Power BI REST APIs, Tabular Editor / DAX Studio, and Microsoft Fabric is highly desirable.

2. Data Engineering & Analytics

Design and develop scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and integrate structured/semi-structured data from databases, APIs, files, cloud platforms, and enterprise applications.
Strong SQL skills including complex queries, stored procedures, views, transformation logic, and workload optimization.
Strong understanding of data warehouses, dimensional modeling, data lakes, and lakehouse architectures.
Hands-on experience with Python / PySpark and cloud-native data services.
Experience with at least one major cloud data ecosystem, preferably Microsoft Azure.
Desirable technologies: Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, Microsoft Fabric Data Factory / Data Engineering, OneLake / Lakehouse, Delta Lake, SQL Server / Azure SQL, Snowflake.

3. DevOps, Governance & Quality

Git/version control and CI/CD concepts using Azure DevOps / GitHub and deployment pipelines.
Data lineage, metadata management, data-quality frameworks, role-based access, and data security.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, stakeholder-management, requirements-gathering, and documentation skills.
Ability to diagnose performance bottlenecks across SQL, pipelines, semantic models, and Power BI reports.

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Power BI & Business Intelligence

Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic models.
Build intuitive interactive visualizations that translate complex datasets into actionable business insights.
Develop advanced DAX calculations and business logic; use Power Query / M for transformation, cleansing, and preparation.
Configure and optimize semantic models, RLS, Import/DirectQuery/composite models, incremental refresh, and data gateways.
Establish reusable reporting standards, templates, KPI definitions, and visualization best practices.
Support deployment and lifecycle management across development, testing, and production; troubleshoot report, refresh, gateway, semantic-model, and performance issues.

2. Data Engineering
