Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Databricks Manager with 15+ years of overall IT experience to lead Databricks delivery teams and enterprise-scale data programs. The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing technical teams, driving delivery, working with stakeholders, and overseeing the implementation of modern data platforms using Databricks, Lakehouse architecture, Apache Spark, and cloud technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage multiple Databricks delivery teams across enterprise data initiatives.
Own end-to-end delivery of Databricks programs, ensuring projects meet scope, schedule, quality, and budget expectations.
Define delivery strategy, execution plans, milestones, and resource requirements.
Provide technical and managerial leadership to Databricks, data engineering, and cloud teams.
Partner with enterprise architects, engineering leaders, product owners, and business stakeholders to define solutions and priorities.
Oversee implementation of Databricks Lakehouse, Apache Spark, Delta Lake, and cloud data platforms.
Manage project/program risks, dependencies, issues, and escalations.
Establish delivery standards, engineering best practices, governance, and quality processes.
Track program KPIs, delivery metrics, resource utilization, and overall project health.
Mentor and develop technical leads, architects, engineers, and delivery managers.
Coordinate cross-functional teams across data engineering, cloud, DevOps, analytics, security, and business functions.
Drive continuous improvement in delivery processes, automation, scalability, and operational efficiency.
Manage client and stakeholder communications, including executive-level status reporting.
Support hiring, team building, capacity planning, and resource allocation.
Identify opportunities for modernization and optimization of existing data platforms.
Ensure adherence to security, compliance, data governance, and enterprise architecture standards.
Required Qualifications
15+ years of experience in IT, data engineering, data platforms, technology delivery, or related fields.
Significant experience managing Databricks delivery teams and large-scale data programs.
Strong knowledge of Databricks, Apache Spark, Delta Lake, and Lakehouse architecture.
Experience with at least one major cloud platform: Azure, AWS, or GCP.
Proven experience managing large technical teams and multiple concurrent projects.
Strong program/project management and delivery leadership experience.
Experience working with distributed/global teams.
Strong understanding of data engineering, ETL/ELT, data warehousing, and modern cloud data platforms.
Experience with Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies.
Strong stakeholder, client, communication, and executive presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, resources, timelines, risks, and delivery commitments.
Preferred Qualifications
Databricks certification or relevant cloud/data certifications.
Experience leading enterprise-scale data modernization or cloud migration programs.
Knowledge of Unity Catalog, Databricks Workflows, Delta Live Tables/Lakeflow, and data governance.
Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, Git, and infrastructure automation.
Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka and Spark Structured Streaming.
Experience managing programs involving multiple vendors or technology partners.
Strong background in building and scaling high-performing data engineering organizations.
