Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced MySQL Database Administrator (DBA) with 68 years of experience to manage, maintain, optimize, and support database environments across on-premises and AWS cloud infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in MySQL, Linux administration, database performance tuning, replication, high availability, backup/recovery, and AWS database services. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work closely with application development and DevSecOps teams.
Key Responsibilities
Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Redis databases.
Manage databases across on-premises and AWS environments.
Design, implement, and maintain database replication and high-availability solutions.
Administer AWS database and infrastructure services including:
Amazon RDS
Amazon Aurora
Amazon ElastiCache
Amazon DynamoDB
Amazon S3
Amazon EC2
Perform database performance tuning and optimization, including query optimization, indexing, schema design, and troubleshooting.
Monitor database environments using tools such as AWS CloudWatch, Grafana, PMM, Datadog, or MonYog.
Perform database health checks, maintenance activities, capacity planning, and performance analysis.
Develop and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
Ensure database reliability, availability, data integrity, and minimal downtime.
Collaborate with application developers to optimize schemas and complex SQL queries.
Work with DevSecOps teams on security patches, database upgrades, and infrastructure improvements.
Automate database and infrastructure tasks using Ansible, AWS CloudFormation, scripting, or Python.
Troubleshoot production database issues and participate in an on-call rotation.
Prepare ad-hoc reports and provide database-related insights to stakeholders.
Required Skills
68 years of experience in Database Administration.
Strong hands-on experience with MySQL.
Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix administration.
Experience with MySQL installation, configuration, upgrades, and maintenance.
Strong understanding of MySQL internals and storage engines.
Experience with database performance tuning and query optimization.
Strong knowledge of database backup and recovery.
Experience with MySQL replication and high availability.
Experience working with AWS cloud services.
Good scripting or Python skills.
Strong troubleshooting and production support experience.
