Role: DB2 UDB Core Developer

Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced DB2 UDB Core Developer with strong hands-on expertise in IBM DB2 LUW (Linux, UNIX, Windows) and enterprise application development.
The candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining core application functionality, implementing business logic, writing complex SQL, developing DB2 stored procedures, and supporting application integration in a distributed environment.
This is a core development role and not a DBA or Mainframe position.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain core application components using DB2 UDB / DB2 LUW.
- Develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and database packages.
- Implement business logic and data processing requirements within enterprise applications.
- Develop and maintain application modules that interact with DB2 databases.
- Perform application-level SQL optimization and troubleshoot database-related application issues.
- Analyze technical requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
- Participate in design, coding, unit testing, debugging, code reviews, and production support.
- Troubleshoot application defects and perform root-cause analysis.
- Develop data processing and integration components for distributed applications.
- Collaborate with architects, application developers, QA teams, and business analysts.
- Support application deployments and production issue resolution.
- Create and maintain technical documentation.
- Follow coding standards, development best practices, and Agile/SDLC processes.
Required Skills and Experience
- 5+ years of experience in DB2 UDB / DB2 LUW application development.
- Strong hands-on experience with DB2 SQL.
- Experience developing and maintaining:
- Complex SQL queries
- Stored Procedures
- User-Defined Functions
- Triggers
- Cursors
- Views
- DB2 Packages
- Strong understanding of relational database concepts and data modeling.
- Experience with application development in a distributed/non-mainframe environment.
- Experience with high-volume data processing and enterprise applications.
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Good understanding of SQL performance optimization from an application development perspective.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum or similar development environments.
- Experience with source control tools such as Git or equivalent.
Preferred Skills
- Strong experience with DB2 LUW on Linux/UNIX/Windows.
- Experience with one or more programming languages such as:
- Java
- C++
- C#
- Python
- Experience with Unix/Linux and shell scripting.
- Experience with REST APIs and enterprise application integration.
- Exposure to CI/CD and DevOps practices.
- Experience with tools such as Git, Jenkins, Jira, or equivalent.
