Role Title: Systems Engineer – AS400 Analyst
Duration: 12 Months
Location: New York City, NY or Jersey City NJ (Fully On-site)
Description: The role of the Systems Engineer is to provide in depth knowledge and expertise in supporting the IBM i systems, a.k.a. AS/400 or iSeries for all regions.
Deliver and build IBM i systems according to system requirements and project timescales.
Ensure the continuity of all Agency’s AS/400 systems, production first & test/development second
Ensure system stability during normal working and required uptime hours of all Agency’s AS/400s
Ensure best possible system performance for all Agency’s AS/400
Present new ideas for the function of the AS/400 in line with the business objectives
Work on projects that require the implementation of systems that run on this platform.
Coordinate with the Application Owners & Managers to Ensure their directions are in line with the functions and abilities of the systems
Ensure the secure operations of all Agency’s AS/400s
Improve the security and secure access of all Agency’s AS/400 in line with SG’s direction wherever possible
To the best of our environment, ensure system’s best practices are employed
Provide pro-active recommendations on areas for improvement and take ownership of this technology for all regions. Share knowledge with other members of the European Systems Team.
Coordinate with the Retail AS/400 team on best practices, standards, and directions
Ensure supervision controls are up to date and in line with SG Standards
Continue to improve the overall systems’ environment and operations in cost effective ways
Keep AS/400 skills up to date aligned with industry directions, standards, and best practices
The IT Systems team operates as a service to the other IT teams and the business to provide 2nd/3rd level support for the server/systems infrastructure.
Provide minor support for other systems as it relates to the IBM i and escalate to the relevant technical expert within the team.
Required availability for out of hours support for on-call, and scheduled weekend work.

10+ year of experience is required, this is a senior level role.
