Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mainframe COBOL Developer / Modernization Lead with strong expertise in the Life Insurance domain. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in mainframe application development, modernization initiatives, and production support within large enterprise insurance environments.
Required Skills
Strong experience in COBOL application development, enhancement, and maintenance.
Hands-on experience with JCL including batch job execution, scheduling, restart, and abend resolution.
Expertise in DB2 with SQL development, query optimization, cursors, plans, and packages.
Experience working with VSAM (KSDS, ESDS, RRDS), file handling, and recovery.
Strong knowledge of CICS online transaction processing, screen development, and pseudo-conversational programming.
Solid understanding of the z/OS mainframe operating environment.
Experience supporting large-scale batch processing systems.
Proven experience in mainframe modernization, including API enablement, application refactoring, migration, and re-platforming initiatives.
Strong production support experience in mission-critical enterprise applications.
Excellent troubleshooting, debugging, and performance tuning skills.
Mandatory Requirement
Hands-on experience in the Life Insurance domain is mandatory.
Strong understanding of insurance policy administration, billing, claims processing, and policy lifecycle management.
Preferred Skills
Experience leading modernization initiatives for legacy mainframe applications.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced enterprise environment.
